Paloma Emergency Procedure
Keep this handy for easy reference.
Our maintenance coordinator is available five days a week between 9 am and 5
pm to receive your maintenance work order requests either by email at
palcooprepair@gmail.com or by filling out a Maintenance Work Request Form,
available on the bulletin board outside the office. These forms can be completed
and dropped in the drop box at the office.
What is an emergency?
- Roof, ceilings, are leaking
- Damaged or blocked water, sewer pipes or plumbing fixtures
- Actively running water that cannot be contained
- No heat/hot water in entire suite during harsh winter conditions
- No power in your whole suite—first check breakers
Please check your breakers and then call BC Hydro. - Broken locks that allow anyone to enter the premises without a key. This
does not include locking yourself out. This is NOT an emergency - Fire trouble signals/bells— leave the building immediately
If fire bells are ringing and/or there is smoke or you suspect there
may be a fire , call 9-1-1 and leave the building immediately.
How to report an emergency:
- During regular business hours, contact Chris Lee by email:
palcooprepair@gmail.com or call him at 604-443-4948 - After hours, please call ‘Emergency Maintenance’ at 604-880-9321..
- If you require immediate assistance, you may call one of the Maintenance
Committee members for advise (see Paloma’s contact list) or call the
appropriate tradesperson from the list below.
Staff will not respond to your call if:
- The problem is being worked on when you call
- You do not leave a name and phone number in your message
- The call is not an emergency

Members will be held financially responsible if a member calls a trades
company after hours on a non-emergency call. Before you call anyone on
any contact list, consider the following:
- Time of call:
- Anytime after 5:00 pm or on the weekends is considered overtime
and the co-op will be charged the overtime rates. - If it is not an emergency and you call in a tradesperson yourself,
you will be responsible for the cost. - If you are calling a Maintenance Committee member, please
consider the time and reason for your call. - Calls will not be returned if the matter is not an emergency.
- Nature of the problem:
- If your refrigerator is not working and food is getting spoiled, it
should be serviced as soon as possible. However, it does not
require immediate attention, so please wait until business hours to
make the service request.
- Always email maintenance requests (whether emergency or non-
emergency) to palcooprepair@gmail.com if possible.
If you do not have access to email, use the Maintenance Request Form
for routine maintenance work or call Chris Lee at 604-443-4948 to create a record of an emergency reported by phone.
Paloma Emergency Plan
If you need a hand with a non-emergency (changing a lightbulb, picking up a medication if you’re sick, breaking down some boxes, etc.) you can contact the Paloma Helpline (palomahelpline@gmail.com). It is a volunteer-led group of members who are willing to help other members in short term need. Also, if you’re interested in putting your name in as a volunteer for this service, you can send them a message directly.
